Picked up a few more buttons including a military button. It appears to be 3rd Regiment of US Infantry but does have an odd twist. I havent seen any others where the word "states" is on the left. The back has some markings but I can't read it. Not sure what the little square with raised dots is, its smooth on the back. The other button is pewter and crumbling but looks like a spider web pattern.

Nice finds, congrats! :occasion14:

Good Work. That button has me intrigued. Haven't seen that one. I have a few War of 1812 Script buttons and they don't resemble that one. No clue where my button book. I'm sure one of the experts on here will figure it out quickly.

Great finds I’m sorry now that work and gnats got in the way. Hopefully we will figure out what and who was at this site.

This is my guess. It's from between the Revolutionary War and the War of 1812. Probably infantry 1792-1800. It's a stamped design and someone stamped the "3" with the button upside down.

Can you give us a measurement in millimeters for your button. Albert's list one as 15mm but yours looks like a coat size. It is R3Bv, described on page18 and pictured on page 19. R3Bv is a variant of the R3B button in that "United States" starts at the top of the button. It dates 1798-1802

Sorry, just noticed the question about size. It is coat sized, measured it and it is 21 mm.
