US Medic Pin? Blood Drive?

Hey all, I found this pin recently and was wondering if anyone knew what it was. Some people I have talked to said it was what they gave in blood drives if you gave blood and some say it was for medics. If anyone has any clue the time period or what it is I would greatly appreciate that.
