Found these items in two hunts at two different farms....same farms I've been hunting since I purchased the MD. Can anyone specify what the US 'Buckle' piece is?....also I found the Barber V in a washed out path around a very old barn....ON TOP OF THE GROUND! ...some very eclectic items I must say....and why would I find this deep sea coral type item in the middle of a field in the middle of nowhere in the middle of Tennessee?....my first harmonica too....trite, but I was looking forward to finding one....oh and one more thing, I checked the value of the steel wheatie and it is almost DOUBLE face value....Score!

I look forward to your comments.

Peace

Actually the steel cent was found in a shed out of the rain.

Plehbah nailed it.  The "U.S." piece is a bridle rosette. The bent piece of metal around the coin in the center looks to be from a daguerrotype photo.

Thanks Plehbah....when I saw the stone in the field it was obviously a pristine ancient Indian relic uncovered against all odds by a astute treasure hunter....but my Arrowhead Goggles were on 'cause at home (the next morning) I realized that I was way off and now it is something to add to the landscaping border try to forget. Soon...though soon I shall find an arrowhead, I just know it.

Nice lot! The button and rosette can be dated to the period from the Spanish American War through WW1. I've found a few steel cents, like yours they were indoors, never found one outdoors. Think they recycle naturally all too quickly. If you know who lived there during that period it can help you date those things also.

Just a schtickel of soap and water on the coins....I was amazed.
