Nice digs there I can see why you do it now !!

people collect all sorts of things and vintage batteries are no exception. there are some vintage ones listed on ebay. yours just might be worth a few bucks

Hey steam,

Thanks for the dump in situ photo. Very picturesque spot for a little excavation, eh. Wonderfully diverse group of goodies from several eras, too. Any indication that this dump has been dozed about?

The Hero Fruit Jar lid looks the oldest of what I can date in my minds eye. I can't quite see which model it is.

hero-cross-lid.jpg
"#20. Two (2) glass lids used on Hero improved design jars, aqua. One clear (small crack), one cloudy.
Around the top outer circle of clear lid: PAT.D. FEP. 12 56. DEC. 17 61. NOV. 4, 62. DEC. 6 64. and JUNE 9, 68.
Around the top outer circle of cloudy lid: PATD. FEB. 12. 56. DEC. 17 61. NOV. 4, 62. DEC 6. 64. and JUN 9. 68.
There are slight differences in these two. The first spells "FEB" as "FEP" and spells out JUNE. There are also differences in where periods are placed - no commas.
Around the top inner circle: JAN 19 69 SEP 1 68 SEP 8 68 DEC 22 68" Antique Fruit Jars

The Smith, Kline, French inhaler dates from 1932 through the war years. They are actually quite marketable, as well. Is that a Bakelite or vulcanite barrette to the right of the inhaler?

The art nouveau buckle (?) is a lovely piece. Continued success, sir!

Nice finds!!! Any idea what the small brass buckles were used for? I found one exactly like them about a month ago.

I have no idea what the belt buckles are used for, mine are brass, maybe for horse straps

This dump was virgin, until I started hitting it. Its alot bigger than I originally thought. To the right of the inhaler -bakelite pin. I found 150 whole milk bottles of various sizes in this dump and still counting. This is a nicely contained Farm dump. I found the Farmville Lithia Water Bottle in this dump. I'm thinking its the dump dates 1860's - 1940's. Lot of nice history in one small area with lots of layers.

The really good stuff, 9 chances out of 10 is always broken, obliterated, chipped or cracked, but every once in a while you get a really good one.

Hey steam

Very cool, that Farmville, and a couple of nice squat sodas to boot. To say nothing of the whiskies, and that master ink...

This is a very giving dump! Is that art nouveau plate a buckle, or a brush back, or what?

I'm really not sure on that piece, seems like a lid, I was thinkin maybe a jewelry box, but there are no hinge holes, maybe it was soldered and broke off?

Benzadrine Inhaler - any way to date it?

Saw that you found a Benzedrine Inhaler canister. I found a couple of them today. Little Rock Arkansas.
One of the canisters has a package or control number on it. I was wondering if anyone knows of a resource for dating mine with that number.

The other items are a horse shoe and what I believe is a pulley that could have been used for suspension footbridge cables. Just not sure though
