US Army Pack

I'm wondering what this army pack was used for. 1st pic it's laid out flat. 2nd pic I folded in the sides. 3rd pic is how I guess it's supposed to be, about 10" wide and 16" tall. 4th pic has what looks like ammo loops for maybe shotgun shells. Last pic has a number.
