Hello All,

Found this a while back and put it aside, then recently found an example of a George Washington Memorial Urn button on a site, which I never knew even existed, and it kinda reminded me of my button, and they did mention that there were many varieties made. The back mark says '' WRS''. This could be a reach, and by all means let me know if "me arse is out'' on this one.

Hope your getting out an about not strained and contained,

Snaps

I don't know how many variations there are of buttons with urns on them .. probably more than Carter has liver pills ... but yours certainly looks like one. Enlarged to the max, I am pretty sure you can see a faint outline of the urn.

Creskol thanks, like most, I have a very active imagination when I look at dug buttons, glad you see it too. Are you familiar with that backmark? Cant find it anywhere. Seems the style an shank could suggest late 18th century?

I've had that type of Urn on a late 18th C Cuff-link, didn't know they did matching buttons - Cool, helps put to bed the GW argument (internet Myth). I've always said they were in fashion at the time, Grand Tour classical images.
