I can't get a 100% ID on it but doubt it is Roman. Received a few ideas and possibilities on other detecting forums and it's been IDed as a Rechenpfennig (Accounting Token) it had no actual value but was a symbol to represent a value while using an abacus. There were many different styles made, some symbolize businesses, Moneyers, Kings etc. Estimated date of the token is late 1500s to early 1700s. HH, Mike

Found this in Germany, the Romans didn't make it this far North but you never know.? Any ID help would be appreciated!? HH, Mike

A Roman copy of a Greek coin.......That is Apoolo seated holding a lyre......

I have found one site decribing your coin in the web page header....But the site will not allow access..

I'll keep hunting

Good Luck

On the first picture, the translation is official dignity (otherwise), on the one with the rooster, I got provide arms, conquer.

Where exactly did you find the coin? I have to pull up some old textbooks about the Roman Empire to view the boundaries.

Thanks for the help Gord and Theresa! I'm certain it is an accounting token from the early 1600s. HH, Mike

this is not a Roman coin. I am not sure of attribution, only that it is not Roman nor ancient.

Honos Alit Artes was the first thing i was thinking about, but its not saying Artes on there? Honos Alit Arcum would also be a possibility?
