Some people do books (one of each). I decided long ago my goal was to acquire a roll of each year, mintmark, and intentional variety (small date/large date, etc) instead and enough to fill any books I decide to fill.

For the past couple years I have been primarily CRHing and just putting my finds into different boxes based on type. So over the past few days, I finally took some time to update my overall collection spreadsheets. I haven't updated them for all my finds, but just for some of those that go toward completing my goals. Essentially I didn't add in my doubles/extras. I also didn't go through all denominations as the process is quite time consuming, but I did complete Jefferson nickels (which are the closest to complete) and some other oddball coins like Ikes, SBAs, etc.

To complete one roll of each year, mintmark, and intentional variety of Jefferson nickels from 1938-2010, here is what I have left to complete. The number in parentheses is the number I have toward completing the roll of 40.

1938-D (19)
1938-S (1)
1939-D (4)
1939-S (16)
1941-S Large S (33)
1942-S (32)
1943-D (9)
1944-D (33)
1944-S (20)
1950-D (1)
1955 (35)
2009-P 6)
2009-D (5)

All but a couple coins were found by CRH.

Another interesting curiousity is that I have found 22 of the 43 proof nickels from 1971-2010 through CRH as well. Over 50% with only 4 duplicates.

WOW. I go through ~10,000 nickels a week and still haven't found my first 50-D, 38-D, or 39-S.
Also no 43-D though I would never put those in a book all my 35% and 40% silver gets sold off at the show each month.

Totally jealous!! - Congrats :notworthy:

My finds are from the 1,322,401 nickels I have records of searching since 2006 as well as the ???,000 that were prior to that (mostly casino nickels and probably in the 100,000-300,000 range).

I also have about 144 buffalo nickels (44 w/no date) and 19 V-Nickels, but not all of those came from CRH as I bought a small collection that had about 30 of the buffalos.

excellent stats, I have at least one of everything except that 50D!

I guess I forgot to mention that I do have 1 more of each in a book.. in other words I actually have 2 - 1950-D and 2 - 1938-S from a finds perspective.

Awesome stats there gman; as usual.

On the 44 dateless buffs, any reason you haven't tried Nic-a-Date on them yet ? I have to believe an "enhanced" buff is worth no less than a buff whose date/mint can't be read. At least you'd (now) know what you have.

Nice stats! I finished two books (38-62) since 09 Christmas. The third is missing two coins.

Two reasons:
1) I haven't decided what my opinion on nic-a-date coins is yet.
2) I don't own any nic-a-date as I have been too lazy to buy any. (This is the main reason.)

If you couldn't tell from my post, books 3, 4, and 5 are all essentially missing 2 coins (38-s, 50-D)

and
24x 39-S

from CRH...

this is unbelievable!

No, the number in () is the number I found, so only 19 and 16.
