That is what I thought when I saw that solid +80 on the TID screen of my MXT. ;D Let me tell you, up until this point, for the past two or three weeks, I had hit a few new sites including a house site with little luck. I have been doing ALOT of marking off my "potential Sites" list so to speak ;D ;D

. So to get back to the plus 80 signal........It was a SOLID +80 and was in an area where I had found a few colonial items before in the past, including the 1600s nipple button that I dug awhile back. When I popped it out of the hole, there was this beautiful Georgian shoe buckle (mid to late 1700s). I had to dig around in the dirt alittle bit to find the iron piece that fits in the buckle but luckily I did. I found several muskets and minies to on this outing and feel like I am on the upswing again.

P.S.--I took video of this outing and have me digging these relics and the woods. I will post them when I get alittle more time tomorrow.

Here are some videos that I took. I wasn't able to get every single find on vid because my batteries died out on me but here is what I was able to record:

HMM. Yeah, they look very fragile and easy to break. I imagine if this one had been in a field instead of woods that it would have been all broken up by the plow. Thanks for the date range, that pretty much is on key with what I thought....I found it where I found that nipple button that you assisted me with dating. :)

Re: What have we got here??

Sounds like you're close to a colonial housesite! Crusader nailed the buckle ID. Widen out from where you're hunting and try to find the hotspot. It's there somewhere--close by.

Indeed, there is a house site within 300 yards of this spot. I have found King George coppers, boss bits, drawer pulls, the nipple button, lead, iron, etc. You can actually tell where the old house sites are in these woods because grass and daffodils grow where the foundations use to exist. Not 100 yards away is an old foundation but it looks to be from the early 1900s BUT it may be older.....I am going to check it out on my next outing. It is a cool spot where you can find civil war and colonial relics all in one. Here is another buckle that I found a while back in that area:
