Coin roll hunting tonight produced a no date buffalo, 25 pre 1959 Jefferson nickels...the oldest, a 1939, and last but not least a 1904 V which I have been hoping for popped out of the bunch. No war nickels tonight or a dated buffalo but pretty happy... didn't think I'd see a V nickel for a long time. UPDATE:. Just finished my last six rolls and pulled a 1938d mint....one I didn't have and ended up getting a 44P war nickel after all on the last two rolls...almost had a second one...it was a 1942...but no mint mark...

Same Charles Barber designed it like the silver coins, but, yeah, it's more commonly called a V nickel.

Congrats coinstar!!

Nice find, you probably don't find the V Nickels in rolls very often. I found one last year in the change bin of our vending machine at work. That was the only one I have ever found outside of metal detecting and digging one.

Wow, in the change bin?! What are the odds in finding one in a vending machine?

I don't know, all I do know is that I haven't found one since and it's been 2 years ! I also found a silver Rosie in the change bin. Not much really, but I'm glad I'm responsible for taking it to the bank. At least I get the chance to look thru it real quick.

I think the odds are greater because someone else left those coins in the bin. :). I recall that the last guy I saw on tnet who got a V nickel thought the odds were 1 out 5,000...if my memory is correct...

Never can tell what you will find and where. My 1st and only V nickel was found two inch deep in the sand at Ludington City Park next to the sidewalk. As much as that place is detected I don't know how it lasted there. Some good finds there..
