I found a 14k gold baptism pendant today and it's engraved with a name (first and last) and a date, but by the date if this was done around the first year after birth it would make the person about 8 or 9 years old with no church named on the pendant, how would I go about finding the kid to get it back to him (through his parents of course).

Or is this one that you just say, can't return and just accept defeat. I am calling a church in the town I found it and will speak with a church representative to see if they can help or give me a directtion to pursue. That's my only thought of how to possibly return it.

Try ancestry.com. My wife is a whiz on it and she tracked someone so I could give them a class ring back. May not work but a chance.

That might work but being a young child, I don't know?

I'll come back later ,right now it's dinnertime and I have to walk the dog also.

Depends on whether a relative, close or distant, entered them in system.

Give me the name and birthdate and general location found. State of birth helps greatly. I will ask my wife to see what she can find. Any info you have helps.

I'll PM it to you.

Contact the local churches and ask if they have a registry of baptisms. If they ask 'why', tell them.
Don...
Yeah I have one I'm going to call tomorrow, The biggest issue might be it is a mexican child by the name and the pendant being in Spanish Mi Bautizo which translates to my baptism but the church I am going to call does mass in Spanish.

I start all my SEArcheS with www.findagrave.com I then give findagrave.com all the more info i can come up with.
uI have found with Ancestry.com way to much miss information. If i find the names on findagrave I then contact local newpapers for obits 'and also funeral home services. Some times I use Facebook. and other internet search engines. i would have posted the persons name openly and hopes some one else my have better luck

By the way, it is very nice of you to try and find the child it belongs to. We'll done.

Also you might find the local newspapers in that town if ANY and look for that name in the obits, I am thinking if it us for three days the child probably has passed

Well it's not looking good for a return I've contacted the local churches and they have no record of a Bryan Madrigal having been Baptized in their church and there isn't a National registry either ,it is a church by church registry, although they are trying to start a regional registry but haven't done it yet. I thought this might be a hard return to complete. I will hang on to the item and maybe some time later on in a few years I might get lucky as he ages he might be easier to track down and find. But as of right now I think he is around 8 or 9 so he doesn't yet have an internet fingerprint to track him down.

I would also like to thank all who suggested ideas and also do some checking for me on their side appreciate the help all.
