Well nice pics but only one dim, 1997 to show for about two lunch hours of hunting. Although I hit a strong signal today and hit a jar lid old zinc style but no jar attached. Oh well maybe next time. I am off and going back tomm. If anyone sees any spots in the photos where you would look please share. I will put in the time to search but photos may spark your imagination. I still look at them and think maybe here or there. Thanks. Enjoy the pics.

I would choose the carport, around the bushes, around the stone wall, aoround tree on the oposite side of the housw from the carport and the old rotten porch. then move out to yards and fields. don't forget wodded areas that may have been open in the past.

What ever you do, don't leave without finding the privy location. It is normally about 50' away from the rear door of the house. Look for low spot in the yard and probe it for glass. You would be amazed at what found it's way into the outhouse.

Hambone

I'm with Hambone. Find the Privy and bring a shovel. If you have a nice 1/4 inch diameter rod ( Home Depot ) about 4' long you can probe down and then pull up where you think the Privy was it should have a finer soil and maybe some tomato seeds on it. Honest! if you find it just dig down about a foot all around the area and then set the detector to work. Thar's Gold in them Thar hills son. Well piles anyway.LOL Anyway HH .

Phillip,
Check under the bases of the bushes, against the trunk of the trees, next to the pillers and next to the old shed. Good luck and keep us informed. Excited about what you find.

If this house is abandoned and you can search it's interior then by all means do so. Basement may have old items from books to bottles, there may be an attic cache, check vents, ducting if those old large floor grates are present and run a UV light over the walls to look for well defined patches as opposed to irregular damage repairs. Outside, hunt it all and let your grins sort it out!

Have fun!

What a fabulous place to search. I can see so many possibliities in the photos. Sometimes with a place like this it is easy to be overwhelmed with so many choices. I ususally pick an area and just start doing a really thorough search. I have even mapped each finds approximate location on occassion so I can tell where the most productive areas are after building up some data. Whatever you decide to do it is gonna be fun. Jim Cal

My favorite place to find is the old clothesline location. When people hang pants up they were usually hung upside down so everything in the pockets ended up on the dirt...You can look for old post in the ground and alot of times one end of the line was attached to a tree....Good luck ..WWH

Not only that but Wet Clothes, Make Fingers Wet, Rings fall off Wet Fingers. I had to find Rings Twice, in the past , for Women who lost them hanging cloths on Clothes lines

Here's a thought, check around each corner of the house and outside corner of fireplace if any. When old homes were built, owners buried a coin in the year built at a corner for good luck(if possible was a silver dollar). Was a superstition about prosperity for the family. HH and keep postin'

Wow great place to hunt.
Like williefire said hunt that clothesline for sure. and also where they would have walked from the front door to there car in the driveway is a good place to hunt a lot of people lose change while digging through there pockets for keys..Shoot you might even find there keys.
I love hunting old houses and the looks of this one I would never be done with. Some days you might just find a clad coin but at a house like this one you will find some silver. Just overlap that coil EVERY pass you make and walk a pattern don't jump around or get in a hurry.
And when you give up then give me a holler and directions to the house. ;D

Check under the steps to the porch if your coil will fit in there. It was a sometimes tradition to put a silver dollar under the steps or back just under the porch when the house was first built. I agree with 49er, check the bushes around the porch. Run your pad up to the trunk of the bush because they may not have always been there. If you can find where the wood shed was, detect the ground inside the perimeters of it. Also if you locate the outhouse look for a depression trail from house to there and check it too. Good Luck

Unless I missed it, I would also look under and around each window openning. All sorts of items are dropped out of windows.

From reading the replies on your post, it sounds like you've got your work cut out for ya :) Lots of hot spots and lots of potential. Go for the low hanging fruit first,....the shallow stuff. After you've cleaned up the site and got all the shallow goodies out then you can start looking for the deeper goodies.

Good luck! Keep the pics coming.

Almost forgot,....If you need help with the photos or if you want to post more detailed images of larger size just let me know. I'll create a folder that you use to link to on my Web Server. You can send the images to me and I'll deposit them into your folder and then email you a link to the folder that you can use to get to them. As many images as you like :) Just let me know.

Great site. Take your time and go over each area again and again and again. Go slow and dig everything. The grid approach is really good here. Map each find and take your time and enjoy. Looks like years of fun. I'm with Red, let me know if you get tired... ;D

Thanks for all thse suggestions. I have hunted it three times. Each trip has produced some better finds. Thsi last trip I found a small pocket knife and a 1950 wheatie. So closer to finding that silver. The house is scheduled to be remodeled and it is going to be moved about fifty feet back. I can not find any evidence of a clothes line or the privy. I have searched hard but all clad coins point to parking areas. I have found five zinc lids. Really thought the jars were attached twice. But no so. I will continue to go back. I have my eyes set on at least two other sites that date back to 1910 and one to late 1800's. This property owner lives at the late 1800's site. Just have not asked him to go yet, heck he told me if I did not find anything here to check his place. Casual conversation you know. Well I can not go inside the house so that is out. I have another site with a small house that is about 900 sq feet with two small rooms each with a fire place. A collapsed porch and financial recored dating back into the 60's laying on the floor. Enough small talk. Plenty of ideas and leads no telling where to start.
