Got home early today to knock out the yard work so I can go metal detecting tomorrow. Was on the tractor when I spied something unusual ahead and stopped to check it out. Here's what I found.

The mother came back at around sundown. Both are now united and doing fine!

That fawn is no more than a day old. Neat

I was out detecting in a field with patches of grass about waist deep and almost stepped on one just like this. Scared me to death for about a second cause it was unexpected.lol I got some photos of it, but didn't mess with it. I'm sure its mother was really close and came back later too.

2nd time this year someone has had the luck to happen upon a brand new bambi (and posted a photo). Thanks for sharing!!

The doe will usually leave them hidden in tall grass or other cover while they are away foraging. They can be gone all day and come back around sunset as this one did.

Thanks for the pic of that gorgeous little creature. It would be hard to resist the urge to cuddle it lol

Did it move or lay there like that?

It just laid there very still, lifting its head up now and then to look around. Finally got up, very wobbly, when it's mother showed up. Didn't have my camera with me then.

cool ! I almost hit one with my detector this year when I stepped over a log and he was laying there . He got up and ran and had a confused look on his face like man whats that!
