So, I wanted to share an usual bracelet with you all and get your opinion.

I saw this bracelet today. It was a good color, had a nice clasp, the charm loops are soldered on, and it had an usual mark on the part of the clasps that inserts in the other side. I thought it was 22K or at least 18K.

So when I test it, it fails for both 22K and 18K. I then tested for 10K and 14K. I think it is 12K.

I think the mark is Egyptian, but this is the strange part.

If you look at the Egyptian hall marks here, I think it looks more like the 18K mark (A V vs a Y) It could be a 12K mark, but the "line" on the mark is on the bottom instead of the top.

The acid doesn't lie. And unfortunately the marks do. You could be a case where the maker was shaving the gold percentage.

Yes, that is what I was thinking too. I find marked pieces that turn out fake pretty often. This is the first item I found that was gold but marked a higher karat. I was hoping for 18K but will take 12K.
