Another day, another score. I was on my way home had spotted an estate sale sign. Now normally I would just drive right buy thinking it was a weekend leftover but I was heading down the street so I took a look.

The sale didn’t have anything of any quality but I did grab this ashtray. It’s in good condition with a few scratches here and there but no chips as of yet.

The edge of the base is marked Dawn? = France or something to that effect.

Does that name ring a bell with anybody? I know the bigger names in French art glass but this one is new to me.

Try searching Daum. I learned about it from watching a Netflix show called “Dealers: Put Your Money Where Your Mouth Is”. It’s a fairly entertaining British show where two antique dealers compete by scouring flea markets for the best finds.

I'm thinking sdiceman is correct as it saying Daum. I think Daum refers to a region in France that makes a lot of art glass. It appears there is no name of an artist on it, so it could be tough to say who really made it? Look up "Daum Crystal" and you'll see similar pieces.

The Daum France w Cross Lorraine mark was used from 1947-1960, after the Daum Nancy period which lasted from 1890-1945. Can I ask what size it is?

Its definitely Daum and thank you all for the ID.

As for size, its really big. A rough guess, until i can get home to measure, is 7" across and about 4.5/5" tall. It has to weigh about 4-5 pounds

Interesting find!
