Just bringing this unusual item to the top hoping someone will have come across one ! MaineRelic There is no stamp mark on the bottom !

It's an antique PIPE TAMPER. They were made with all sorts of decorative tops, and made of various materials. Since you're in Maine, the "M" could stand for Maine or the person's last name. Po' ole Pa Pa lost his tamper in the fire.
