I got this drawknife at a country auction years ago and have always wondered if it was used by a carriage maker and if so what for. It looks like it would make a deep dado.
The knife measures 17" from the center of one handle to the other. It looks to be hand forged and the cutting blade is 3/8" wide with a depth of cut of 1 3/4" and is made to adjust in and out of the frame. I have seen a lot of drawknives but never one like this so any help in identifying it would be appreciated.

It's for making rabbet grooves.

Here's a modern one.
