Hello everyone,

I bought a small collection of Civil War relics yesterday, and this was in the mix. I am nearly certain that it is a fake or fantasy piece, but it still has my curiosity up. Has anyone ever seen one of these or know what it's supposed to be? It measures 4 inches long by 2 inches tall and appears to be made out of silver. It's very well made and looks to be hand engraved. Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

With a touch of sadness, I must report that the diamond-shaped metal block's logo (plain un-serifed letters CSA mounted on two thin flat parallel bars which are attached to a wreath) did not exist during the civil war. But that exact same insignia-logo is seen on many-many Fantasy civil war items. As a teenager, I bought one to put on my grey cowboy-hat during the Civil War Centennial (in 1964). I occasionally see that same Fantasy insignia for sale on Ebay.

To give the forum's readers an idea of how common the Fantasy "CSA in wreath" logo is ...you can buy a pocket-flask with that logo at the link below, for only $26.95. :)

I'd post the photo, but it is Copyrighted by the Falls Creek Sutler website, which blocks copying the photo.
