Im really curious about this copper piece I found. It appears to have a design which is partly gone/broke off. It almost looks like a tree. You can see part of the design on the back as well. I had a buddy suggest its a lantern part but not so sure about that... The hole here doesn't look intentional. The site goes back to the 1700s & was in use until the early 1900s. Any help is appreciated HH!

I'd say it's a squashed piece of oil lamp. Although that's just a guess... it looks like it could be anything.

Edit. Oops, Mick56 beat me to it.
