Were they right together or some soil in between them, 50 years is a longtime in circulation and it looks like it has good detail to the IH. Maybe the other two were drops right on top of the /65? Cool recovery still, wtg.

This is my very similar spill... 1886 Indian, 1917 wheat, 1912 wheat and a 1918 standing liberty quarter, they were all up against each other... Was an SLQ sandwich... This was one of my first finds with my AT Pro last spring when I got it...

Love finding indians!, great spill!

I was detecting a home built in the early 20th century. No reason for that indian to be there unless it was part of the spill or at least dropped around 50 years after being minted

Mow that i think about it, i did find a small flat button and a map i just looked at shows a structure there in 1899. So i guess they could have been separate drops but still to be together in the same hole on a site that has yielded few coins is rather remarkable

Nothing crazy. I found an 1865 IHP in a spill with 1915 and 1917 wheats. Good to know that older indians were still in circulation with wheaties cause i sure do have no trouble finding wheaties lately. What are some of your weirdest coin spill finds?
Nice coin spill. One of the ones that stands out for me were two earlier date Barber dimes with one later date Buffalo Nickel.

I've got coins that predate the building by 100+ yrs so getting something older is always a nice bonus I believe as it shows the real history of the property. It also gets me thinking and digging into more research on the use of the land because of the find.

Cool digs. Mine was a plug that contained these 3 dimes. Dug them behind an old school on 12/28/2014. It was my 1st Barber and my only Barber dime I have ever dug.

I found 12 coins in one hole. 9 Indian Heads, a flying eagle, German 3 pfenninge and a Portugese coin. I think that coins and other relics that pre-date a site may have been collected by the inhabitants much like we collect them today. I have found several relics from the same site I recovered the coins from that did not belong there.

Toasted this thread gives me hope that I might find a seated dime in areas where I'm finding barbers.

Murray, reach in your pocket and pull all your change out. Look at the dates on each coin. It would not be uncommon for you to have a coin from the late 60's or early 70's in your pocket. Coin circulate for 40 years or more at times unless there is a big change in their make-up. (i.e. Rosie going from silver to clad).

If you find a seated where your finding worn out barbers than its likely to be a smooth disk
