Unusual Brass/Copper Tray-Attic Find!

Hi,

I wonder if anyone could help me please. I have recently found this brass/copper tray, which I think is arts & craft. It has got a makers mark on the back, but I am having trouble finding the maker!
All I can decipher is a crown, with what I believe to be a J L & Co written inside.
On the outside, it has 'Crown.....' & underneath 'The Best'.

Has anyone got any idea which maker this is, or perhaps what the tray was for? Maybe a leaving gift or a croupier tray?

Any help would be great!
