Unusual AXE head

My son dug this axe head on a construction site in southern Mississippi.
I can't seem to find any info on what this type of axe head was used for.
The cutting end looks like it is made rounded.
The axe head is much longer than a regular axe head.
Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Looks similar to a Mortise Axe , for making holes for tenons in beams . Nice find
