Unusual 1800's Brass Flat Button with Floral Pattern; Seen One Like this Before?

This is the first button I've seen like this and I'm extremely glad it still has the shank because I might not have guessed it was a button otherwise. The construction is very similar to 1820's brass flat buttons I've found, but the floral pattern appears to have been stamped into the brass. It's nearly 1mm thick too so it would have taken quite a bit of force. No writing the back, just the negative image of the die.

I would love to know if anyone has seen this button before and know the age/manufacturer and who would wear these back in the day.
 

Exception to the rule, these are late 1800s, not early.
