unsure what to call it

found this in a soccer field that also produced a Virginia half penny and some nice large tombac buttons (along with usual modern trash).
Any help id'ing it would be great!

You may be right. I've now found similar on other 17th century firearms. I suppose it could be from the original King's land grantor.
