Relic Hunting
I found this interesting piece on my middle TN. dig with Dwayne Davis of lost and found relics in Bell Buckle TN. Both of us were a bit baffled as to what it is. Between dodging Rattle snakes and pickin ticks! We had an awesome time and found some cool relics. We had to 4-wheel into the property about a mile in the sticks. The site was an old stagecoach stop which has since grown over. I would include photos but, I promised not to disclose them under the, "I'll kill ya if ya tell law!" lol. The crumbled remnant of a pre civil war home was still visible and the amazing feeling you got detecting there was incredible. The site had produced 3 belt plates, eagle buttons, georgia state seals, And 2 identical CW suspender clips. Thanks for helping! Mike

4-H, I found one of these also in an area where I dug an 1804 half cent and some shoe buckle fragments. If mine once had a hinge evidence of that is long gone. I hadn't considered a pipe lid, but that makes sense. The thing about mine though is that it is extremely thin material and wouldn't have been able to withstand much hard use without the hinge breaking off.
