Unknown Tooth or Claw? Alligator??

Does anyone know what this is? I believe it may be an alligator’s tooth, although it’s obviously a key chain or necklace pendant now. I found this at an estate sale in Florida where the owner collected a variety of things (militaria, Native American, fossils, etc.), so it might be old. Is there a way to tell (besides expensive scientific testing) if it is modern (like last 30 years) or older?

Looks like a piece of deer antler.

Try posting it in the Native American forum if you haven't already. There are some very knowledgeable collectors there that might be able to tell you something about it.
