found this tag in my yard.....it's a little larger than a nickel....think it may have had a rivet in it because of the rough edges on the back, indicating it hasn't been worn on a chain.....the initials probably come from the family that built the house.....have no clue what the number stands for...or what the tag was on and what kind it was.....
 

looks like a tool tag..aka "tool check"

I would also guess some sort of tool tag. Probably the initials of the company. The "C" could mean "company" or "contracting" but usually it will be "Co" not just "C"... For example "Jr's Lighting Company" If you catch my drift. Maybe research old local companies in your area to see if any of the initials would match, would be a good start anyways. I have a similar tag that had a number and said V&RLCO, which I found out to mean "Virginia and Rainy Lake Company".
