Found this tool while doing another sifting run at my site. Had better luck sifting than I did detecting thats for sure! Anyway this naturally caught my eye when I saw it in the sifter. ANy ideas on what this was used for? The timeframe for the site is late 1800's to early 1900's (1910 wheat penny was found in the sifter at a prior time along with an IH cent). To me I was thinking a tool for making fish nets or hammocks or something like that but this site is a bit aways from water that you would use a fish net for. The closest body of true water is the Hudson River and that is about 20-40 miles away. One side of it is smooth and the other has some hash marks or actual net looking markings on it. There also appears to be a couple of slashes on the tip.

Anyone ever come up with on of these or know what the heck I got? Will post the other items in Todays Finds.

Thanks

Funkman
