Unknown Ring

This ring was found in an old home located in Cape Breton Nova Scotia, it is sliver and appears to have had a stone added to it. It looks like an old spoon that may have been melted down. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

It looks like folk art. Someone took a silver spoon, melted it, maybe added parts of another, sculpted a bit, added a stone and either wore or gave it to someone dear to wear. True or not, it makes for a nice story...
