found this at my normal hunting ground, the ATV Trails. Looks like it is wedge shaped and has a hole at one end. it is very crusted with iron as you can see. There seems to be a bolt or something near the center. What comes to mind with me is the prybar that they used to lift off the cover on top of a wood or coal burning stove. COuld be wrong, that is why it is on this section.

Let me know what you all think and anyway of getting all this rust off.

Thanks

Funkman

Re: unknown relic from ATV Trails

Hmmm, it's offset. So I don't think it's a key. It could be some type of door hardware, like a latch. But you should soak that baby in an electrolysis bath for awhile and see what is under all that rust.

I think I reconize the thing in the 2nd picture. I saw someone using one once, never wanted one myself.

Had someone sandblast and try a welders torch on it and got most of the rust off as you can see. Apparently there was another hole on the other end. He thinks it could have been an old style window lock/latch. Any ideas with these newer photos?
Cmon PBK...do your magic

Thanks,
