I was metal detecting on the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania a few miles from Fort Indian Town Gap-a military reservation. I found at first what I thought to be a Meteorite but when taken home it was non magnetic and would leave a mark on paper leading me it was made of lead. Here are 2 pictures the first one being the back of the object and the second the front.it's roughly 2 3/4 inches round.Thats the distance measured across it,I thought it might be some military ordance since it is much larger than a 12 gauge slug

there aRE a couple silver mines where 81 crosses the trail
south of lickdale.

But I don't know if Silver ore leaves a Mark.

Light or Heavy ? could it be Slag ?
or Coke from a Steam Train ?

When you say 2 3/4 inches round, do you mean distance around the object or distance across it? It looks an awful lot like a shotgun slug that went thru bone to me. The back stays relatively smooth but the front gets a bit beat up. The lead is usually harder than rifle lead so it doesn't mushroom nearly as well.
