Reminds me of the nut on top of the air filter canisters on old vehicles.

It is made by casting, it is not hand made, wingnut of some kind as stated above. Likely hasn't been in the ground long due to lack of green patina.

I probably should have stated that I cleaned it, it did have an old patina on it.
