Unknown NC Gemmy Stone

Took a one pound rock..literally smashed it with a chunk of steel slag. Took the pieces and put them into a rock tumbler for two weeks.

I then cleaned up this fragment with a Dremel aluminum oxide disk.

Not sure, but maybe Hessonite Garnet?

Any ideas?
