Unknown metal

Not sure what I found but Both of these pieces ring up under the .10 silver mark on my ace 250 both are a hard metal. I cant carve it with a knife but can shine it with the leatherman file. The ground was sandy where It was located and come out in this condition not much for corrosion any ideas?




Found these two items where the old stockyards where 1890s about half a mile from where the depot stood

If i file it its shiny under the dirt not rusty like iron whould be

The bottom item looks like an internal combustion engine valve head, the stem is missing. As for what type of metal, to me it looks like some kind of carbide material.

The top two remind me of 1/2 of a broken wheel weight to balance tires.
