I found this item several years ago just outside of Manassas Virginia. Several people have looked at it to try to determine what it is. They all had different opinions. What do you think???? One big thing one of them noted was the "hand rolled" edge around the inside.

Thanks for looking.

High Hat cymbal for Revolutionary War Era band, "No Taxation Without Representation"

I think James Otis was lead vocals...

Patrick Henry was a big fan...he let Otis and the other NTWR guys crash with him before they got their start..

NTWR still has a small following, nice find....

Considering where you are, (myself too, for that matter!), it could be the cap where the condenser for a moonshine still connected. just a guess, but if it's copper, then it could well be just that! Great hunting and good luck!!! Great Find!! Regards, Richard.

I have several of these similar type items , some have patterns stamped into them, take a look at a few of my posts one of them shows a piece about the same size ,

I am pretty sure what you have there is a top reflector plate from an oil lamp, the rolled edge used to fit onto the glass and the whole thing kinda clamped together, go take a look at some 1800's oil lamps youl get the idea.

Great work, Dan! Actually, that makes perfect sense, as a 2" condenser would be huge, (although it could be tapered down), but a lamp globe is "spot on", as the British say!!! Great hunting and good luck!!! Regards, Richard.

Up in the north with numerous fur trade post we find a similiar item. It appears to me as a decoration cut from a copper kettle which was a comman thing for indians (first nations) to do with the kettle.

Northerner,
ding ding ding......you may have won the prize. I didn't exactly say it in my original post because I didn't want to sway any opinions. One of the people who had looked at it personally was really into Indian artifacts and said he thought it was a piece of indian "dresswear". Several others have looked and all had different opinions.
Thanks for sharing.
We will see what others think.
