WHAT IS THIS? DATED 1870. SAME SIZE AS A KENNDY HALF. COPPER
OBVERSE-"DIEZ GRAMMOS" WITH FIGURE SITTING ON A PETISTILE [?] HOLDING A TREE BRANCH IN RIGHT HAND, DATE AT BOTTOM
REVERSE - FIGURE OF A LION LOOKING LEFT WITH FRONT PAWS ON SHEILD, SHEILD HAS A SMALL LION IN UPPER RIGHT AND CHAINS ON LOWER RIGHT, "OM" MINT MARK UNDER LION, "CIEN PIEZAS EN KILOG" AT TOP, "DIEZ CENTIMOS" ON BOTTOM. I SUSPECT IT IS AN MEXICAN COIN BUT THAT IS JUST MY GUESS. FORGIVE THE OVER DISCRIPTION BECAUSE THE PHOTOS MAY BE A BIT BLURRY AND HARD TO SEE, THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY INFO.

Mexican is Centavos, at least back to 1900. My world coin book is twentieth century only. Spain did have centimos, though.

Thanks! At least I know where it came from and that it's collectable and it's worth more than the quarter I paid for it.
