found this in my back yard, seems to be made of soft aluminum cast. very pitted and it has a marking label on top with the last two letters of "AL" there is also markings unreadable on the round top section but are two pitted to read. Anyone know what this might be??

That is an air line end the kind that a truck driver uses to attach his truck to the trailer it is broken there are 2 of them used in the attachment process. I drive truck that's how I know. Use them all the time .

Like I have said before - it simply amazes me how member's can jump in and ID something. This is one heck of a resource!

We call them (glad hands) in the trucking industry.

I have seen them before but this looks too small, it's 2.5" long 2" wide at the widest and 1.25" thick. I thought they were made out of steel due to the pressure.:icon_scratch:

Google glad hand and you will see a lot of them and no they are aluminum except for some parts that are screwed on to attach them together and the coupling to the air line itself. Don't know about the thickness's your giving as I don't have one in my hand right now.The only value would be as scrap aluminum.
