I found this today while MD'ing, I have no clue what it is but it appears to maybe be a black powder flask spout. The item measures to just under 3" and look like it may be silver plated, has that look to it and it rang up just like change. There are initials engraved into the piece, NRW. It is hollow as though used to pour something.

I found the item in my yard, however here is the catch. I live on a turn of the century sawmill site and there have been people living here for the last 100 years, my family for the last 40 and its not from us so it was here before. I have dug a number of old post Civil War bullets, all the same style.

Any ideas on this would be greatly appreciated!!!

could it be a tool for extracting plugs from timber? it looks to have been struck at the top!

It's part of an umbrella slider thinggy called the "runner". The stretcher attached at the top in those groves, and the slot at the bottom grabbed the springy thing that held it in place.

I will have to go with the umbrella thingy!!! The little slot at the bottom is where the little clips on the umbrella snaps when it is closed!!!

Good job on this one!!!!

I would have never guessed!!!!
