Good eye. I hadn't noticed but it is threaded. The stamp has been demolished. The only thing left is on the far right. It's either a zero or an O and then for sure a 2.

Forgot to mention also that it is brass so maybe that will rule out a few things. I know it's a little piece of nothing but something in me just cannot stand not knowing what every little thing I dig up is. Thanks everyone for helping. HH

How many inches between the flange; basically I want to know what size pole it would fit. :) Breezie

It would be a 1 inch nipple that would thread into there. It is also fine thread if that helps at all. Thanks everyone for the interest. HH

That's good to know too, but I was asking about the flange with the 2 screw holes. Since it is rounded, it would have attached to a pole/rod of some type. What is the distance between the 2 edges of that flange. :) Breezie

Ok the distance there is 1 3/4. And I know it's no banner find or anything but it just eats at me not knowing. Thank you so much for all the help.

I know what you mean about wanting to know what something is. Actually ID-ing an unknown item is a lot like doing genealogy, you have to pick the most logical answer, and be satisfied. As much as I would like to find a photo of every single item on GOOGLE, they're not there.

After getting all the measurements, my ideas are a clamp/mount to hold either a lantern or gas light to a pole. Since it is brass, I'm assuming the item in which it held was probably brass too. (Again, this is an assumption/logical answer for me.) My other thought, although it does not look like the norm, is a mount/bracket to hold a 2nd curtain on a rod. During the late Victorian times, curtains were heavy draperies made of velvets, damask, etc., and were several layers, generally a sheer underneath the velvet one, thus needed 2 rods, which were generally made of brass.

I like the gas light or lantern idea. The place isn't quite right for the curtain rod. Thanks a bunch for the help and feel free to mark this solved. I don't think I can from my iPhone app. I've tried and tried. HH everyone.
