Foggy memory hints of a tire tube patch kit.
Your piece used to rough up the tube surface to enhance adhesion of glue. (?)

It looks a lot like a heat shield like what are used on motorcycle exhaust pipes but I don't see anywhere it could be attached.

If you look closely (besides the cut out stars) you will see lines, stars and starbursts stamped on the metal. There is also a flange of metal running all along its edge.

I did see that. I am not convinced it is a hair curler, yet. But I don't have any other suggestions as to what it might be.

Here is my best guess on this thing. I think it's a perfume powder container cover. Probably called "Stardust", "Starburst", "Shooting Star" something along this line. Well the pictures are here for any future treasure hunters to view.

I did see that. I am not convinced it is a hair curler, yet. But I don't have any other suggestions as to what it might be.

It's the top to a pocket/hand warmer. Late 19th C.

But I bet it will curl your hair if you put hot coals in it and put it in your front pocket. :laughing7:
