Too big to be a Shield or a V nickel. V nickels are the same size as the current nickel. Shield nickels are a little smaller, but still bigger than a dime. Could be a token or maybe a button. Any evidence of the remains of a shank in the middle?

No, No Evidence but the next to the last photo is the other side, it is very crusty. Thanks FreeBirdTim.

What dose the edge look like ? I found a wheat cent in such bad shape I couldn't ID it cleaned it off with an electrolysis I made. From what I see looks like a button a very old one. nice find hope you find out what it is good luck

Thanks Kalib71386 The edge seems like it was smooth at some point, but thinner in some areas and a bit thinner than a dime as far as thickness. The Design that can be made out in the photos just seem to be familiar for some reason. Kinda why I was thinking Coin. It could possibly be a button.

Do I have this right? It's weight is 17 grams and it's the same size of a dime (and apparently not very much thicker, if at all, compared to a dime.)
That item would then weigh about 7.5 times more than a dime yet be the size of a dime (diameter) and about the same 'thickness'.

It's no doubt an illusion, but does anyone else see the Colonial soldier with his musket pointed down. :)

I see what appears to be a figure on the left side of the disc facing to the right. But like Iron Patch points out it could be just an illusion of the crust.

Sorry Mackaydon it weighs 2.0 grams and I would say its very close to the thickness of a dime. I am cleaning a little every so often to try to get better Details.

To me it looks more like someone squatting down to pan for gold. Maybe a button of some sort?

Could we get a better picture of what you think the back is please and maybe a side shot to see the edge.

In the new picture I see a circle looking more like a button on the back I couldn't tell very good but looked like two holes in the middle

Thanks bobby. I'm no coin expert but it looks like a button on the edge to me. Have you ever used an electrolysis I just cleaned this train button off

Kaleb71386 I haven't used Electrolysis yet cause I was kind of scared of removing what could be seen. I am Leaning towards Electrolysis. Thanks Frankyg I will look in that Direction First.
