Please take a picture of the front and back in natural daylight but not direct sunlight. An approximate size would be helpful as well. It looks like a bird but I can't see it well enough to be sure.

Offhand it looks a lot like an 1830's sort of thing, related to but not a Jacksonian button. Similar in that they often had a picture of a plant or animal with a plain background.
