Unknown brass

When digging at an untouched Yankee camp in PA yesterday I recovered 2 pieces of unknown brass. Suggestions of what I have is much appreciated .

The screw cap I believe went to an old metal tube like they used to put toothpaste and other such creams in. The odd spike thing is something I recently spotted on eBay but can't attest to the accuracy of it's description.
