Unknown Beach find

If it's lightwieght it's aluminium prolly from a beer can in a bon fire... if it's heavy like lead than it's runoff from smelt of lead fish wieghts or such... even ammo. But really know whay to truly tell.

Thanks for the replies, guys. It is definitely heavy. It's an odd finding in my mind. I guess you never know what you'll find, eh?!

Maybe a melted, corroded sinker.

lead, find them all the time on the TC Dike..

I find a bunch of those in the coastal mountains of N. California...especially in campgrounds!
First one I found, in a riverbank, rang "silver" on my BH Pioneer...I was SOOO excited!...then, when did more research, found that it was melted ?....lead, aluminum, etc. Don't know why they'd be around campsites/grounds, but I'm always finding these...different shapes but around the same size as yours...have also found a few of them have very sharp edges (aluminum?), but most are smooth...

maybe my eyes are wanting to see something...But I swear when i first look at that second picture, it looks like a Horse head with the mane

If you have to look so hard at a find that it forces you to make it look like something then it's probably not worth much. Kinda like taking the ink splotch test. ;)

How big is it? Looks like a bullet that impacted something. Would also explain the weight.

sent from a potato...

Honestly... It looks like lava.

whatever it is, it's probably a metal that's been melted...I have found tons of these (that ring up as silver) in rivers and camp grounds...I once asked a ranger and he said melted aluminum cans...but could also be steel....they sure mess up your digging! first one I found in a river bed I totally believed was a silver nugget!...not...good luck!
