Are those drum sticks that are crossed?

Not much to go on. It looks like the old marksmanship/qualification medal once used by the US military - except it is NOT military.

Could be 19th C or early 20th. I can't find anything like it on the internet.

I'm guessing it is a high school participation medal for band. You get to add a bar for each year in the band. But I'm only guessing...

They do look like drumsticks. The badge has a bar below the upper most pin that probably held some kind of ribbon, as I have seen that feature on other badges from the late 1800s. For something that is unmarked (aside from the “W”) and is likely for a band/school participation badge, it is quite intricate. Not even a makers mark. It really goes to show how much things have changed in the last 100+ years as far as what kind of awards are given out and their craftsmanship.

Is that a W within a Q ? Looks like a blank medal that wasn’t engraved yet.
