I need expert help in identifying a 15 mm diameter copper (bronze?) coin dug this morning. Site of find dates to 1800 approximately. Other four coin targets found today in proximity to this coin were between 1880 and 1892. Site is a Baltimore City park.

The obverse has a female coroneted head facing left and the reverse looks to have a bird (eagle?) with maybe a shield at the center.

Thanks for your help. Please direct me to a picture of this coin is you can id it.

Thanks to Raider19962 for getting us in the right direction on this.

I believe I can see the word "JETON" beneath the eagle of the reverse of the coin I dug, which would make the more likely id as: https://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces24297.html

Here is a comparison of the Numista token referenced and the one I dug.

Wow! Raider19962.....You nailed it! Many thanks. Thought it might be a jeton and definitely not U.S.

I believe you got it. That Numista site is very comprehensive for anything that even resembles a coin. In fact, it grows all the time. If you find something that is not in the database, you can add it, subject to review. If you collect coins, you can track your entire collection there. You can arrange to trade with other members too. Great find. I was just in Baltimore last week.

Hey Tommy. Went back today and managed two Indians, two wheats, a Buff, a Jefferson nickel and a memorial. Will post later. Think I'll hit another site next time and give this spot a rest.
