I found this at a site where Sherman's troops camped for a night. Most of the gilt is still there; the pictures don't do it justice. It is very small-only 5/16" in diameter. The picture with the two pins is from an ebay ad with this description: "Scovil Mfg. Waterbury Civil War era hat pins 3-piece domed button. "
