Union army button & IH penny
Today Cliff Flynn and I hunted a hay field where a house stood in the late 1800's. They were cutting the hay today while we were there. The ground is dry and hard which makes signals hard to get and no depth. Things today were found down to 4 in. only. Need rain badly. Cliff had a bad day, He only found 2 harness buckels and a small flat button. I found a rivet, a small flat button, a spencer shell casing (not shown), a first year issue 1859 Indian head penny in rough shape, and best of all, a union army infantry officer's button with the eagle and block I on it (unable to see backmark). Had to do a little chicken dance today.
