Like stated above each of these flakes appear to have been done while the piece was still connected to the core. There is a large cone of percussion on the back side. that is the only evidence of a strike after it was separated from the core. Probably just reducing a larger piece into a pre form but it's the only one I have like that

Lol! My fits thought was safety glasses. I bet, on a serious note, lots of native Americans had missing or damaged eyes. A flake of chert could ruin an eye. I remember you said you had chert in your foot. Ooouch! Did you ever have it removed?
