I swear you could make a living sketching points for people. Your work is very good. What a way to enjoy your best find then have a sketch of it. Great talent 37. Vey nice. Glad you shared.
Very nice. If you're the artist than pat yourself on the back. And then pat yourself again. Because whoever sketched those did an amazing job. And then, maybe pat yourself a third time just to congratulate yourself on finding those beauties.
It's old school. Look at all the sketches in the early archeological books. They were illustrations. I like them. I know a guy had a few gorgets sketched and prints made. Just added to the piece.

You are right TN. I have some old illustrated books that I picked up at a yard sale several years back. The oldest was printed in the 50's if I'm not mistaken. The art work is really close to that of 37's. honestly, I can determine flaking styles much better going by the old sketches, as opposed to the more modern art. Although, books with actual close ups of real points are my favorite. Nice art Thirty7! Even better finds!
I've always liked those old illustrations. You can get a good feel for the flaking and other subtleties without handling a piece. There are a few personal finds here others are pieces in my collection that I've acquired. I've done many points and a few pieces of hardstone but I think the uniface pieces is what I like to draw the most.
Thirty7, you seem to be the man on uniface stuff. Can you tell me any thing about this piece? It was found in VA. On the NC line, near Buggs Island or Kerr lake (depends on where you live). The area was populated heavily by Occoneechee tribe. They controlled trade for 500 miles in all directions. Their power was communication rather than military. I think this piece is older than known tribes however. Thanks for any info.
The black piece is the one I'm curious about. Thanks!
